1.
Lyrics In my life nothing seems so right as to be with you And when I'm with you I always sing You're everything And as time goes by floating like a bird am I Even songbirds I know all sing You're everything Oh days are so much fun For those who know that in love all life's a game And as we go dancing through the sun In love And as time goes by floating like a bird am I Even songbirds I know all sing You're everything
2.
EverySong 08:10
Every Song that I sing seems to have a message about what I have to do In my life I have to find out and be with myself to realize what is true For me and I fall down and get up believing I must keep on not knowing that I'll be Alright, even though I feel like I don't know where to go so I can be free Every song I sing Every note I play Every word I write Every mystery in by brain will be brought to light In every song Every song that I sing makes me think about the lessons my life receives From the music I feel grounded in the fascination of who I am to be As I grow into my true self I have to write about my journey Of every step that I make into effervescent consciousness blooming Every song I sing Every note I play Every word I write Every mystery in by brain will be brought to light In every song
3.
O Cantador 05:19
English: Like a lover the morning sun Slowly rises and kisses you awake You're smile is soft and drowsy as you let it play upon your face Oh how I dream I might be the morning sun to you Oh how I dream I might be the morning sun to you How I envy a cup that knows your lips Let it be me my love And a table that feels your fingertips Let it be me let me be your love Bring an end to the endless days and nights Without you Like a lover the velvet moon Shares your pillow and watches while you sleep It's light arrives on tiptoe gently taking you in its embrace Oh how I dream I might be like the velvet moon to you Oh how I dream I might be like the velvet moon to you

Each of us is a flower Growing in life's garden Each of us is a flower We need the sun and rain (repeat) Sun shine your warmth on me Moon cool me with your night Wind bring the gentle rain Earth dig my roots down deep Each of us is a flower Growing in life's garden Each of us is a flower Growing in life's garden Each of us is a flower Growing in life's garden Each of us is a flower We need the sun and rain
5.
The dawn is filled with dreams so many dreams which one is mine One must be right for me Which dream of all the dreams when there's a dream for every star And there are oh, so many stars, so many stars The dawn is filled with songs so many songs which one is mine One must be right for me Which song of all the songs, when there's a song for every star And there are oh so many stars, so many stars Alone the countless days The endless nights that I have searched So many eyes, so many hearts So many smiles Which way to choose which way to go How can I tell, how can I know Out of oh, so many stars, so many stars
6.
He will not always say what you would have him say But now and then he'll say something wonderful The thoughtless things he'll do will hurt and worry you Then all at once he'll do something wonderful He has a thousand dreams that won't come true You know that he believes in them and that's enough for you You'll always go along Defend him when he's wrong And tell him when he's strong he is wonderful He'll always need your love and so he'll get you love A man who needs your love can be wonderful

about

It’s easier to catch lightning in a bottle than to catch D.C. singer Alison Crockett’s riveting, forceful command of the stage on a record. But Obrigada comes remarkably close.
- Mike West, Washington City Paper

The vocalist Alison Crockett is a one-woman powerhouse. You can hear the force of her entire body in the notes she sings, filling your ear with joy and uplift.

How this record came to be...

When I got divorced, I went on a journey of self exploration. I started listening and learning brazilian through working with the artist Beth Amin. I went and visited Sao Paulo and performed there at the famed JazzB club with the trio that is featured on this ep, Obrigada. We formed a bond immediately and I came back to the country again, this time to record and tour. What I love about Sao Paulo is the art, the people, and the food. The people were so warm and giving. But as a former Brooklynite, I found a kindred city that reminded me of NYC, but with tropical plants and beautiful and energetic graffiti art everywhere around the city. The food was reminiscent of black american food that I grew up with: beans and greens!

All of this was inside the music as I was taught by Felipe Silveria, Paulinho Vicente, and Thiago Alves. As we rehearsed we created a musical bond that lasted for 3 years of performing and recording. The music on this EP reflects my musical tastes in Jazz and Soul music, heard most especially in my composition, Every Song and the chick corea classic, You’re Everything. But the first single, O Cantador, reflects my complete enveloping into Brazilian bossa nova culture as the musicians taught me.
